First Experience
For Linkin Park member, Mike Shinoda (34), making songs is not a new thing. This guitarist, rapper, vocalist and songwriter, was for the first time making a score for a big screen film, The Raid.
“I’ve been looking forward to scoring a film. Finally it happened,” said Mike, before appearing in “A Thousand Sund World Tour 2011” in Jakarta (21/9). The Raid is an action film directed by Gareth Evans. It is starring by Indonsian actors, such as Iko Uwais, Donny Alamsyah and Yayan Ruhian. “It has amazing cinematography. The story is also great. I like it because it gives inspiration for the music,” added Mike.
For Mike, the process of making music for The Raid includes a variety of amazing things. Besides having a great storyline, its martial arts choreography is also considered interesting.
Mike usually does not like films with violent scenes. “Quite a challenge. Moreover, they do not use English. So I had to see the text (translation),” he said with a laugh.
He arranged time to make music for The Raid, so it didn’t clash with Linkin Park tour schedule. “I really like it, hopefully I’ll get a chance again next time. We’ll see,” he said. (BEE)
